The Real Symptoms of Mold Exposure

Alright guys, this is the blog you’ve been waiting for. The big one. The home-run. What are the symptoms of mold exposure, and how does it affect our health? Here, we’ll relay the symptoms of nearly every kind of mold you can think of: “harmless” mold, toxic black mold, and other types of toxic mold, as well.

First, let’s talk about the symptoms of “harmless” mold exposure (also known as mold allergies). Essentially, the symptoms of mold allergies are the same as the symptoms of other allergies:

  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Itching
  • Stuffy nose
  • Runny eyes

Mold allergies, while they are an inconvenience, aren’t too much to worry about. However, you’re not likely to be comfortable in your home until you call us and get your problem remediated.

What about the symptoms of toxic black mold exposure? The answer to this question is incredibly hard to summarize. The symptoms of toxic black mold exposure range from coughing to pulmonary hemorrhages to fatigue, and even to neurologic problems. Some of the more common symptoms of black mold exposure are as follows:

  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite
  • Poor memory

However, contrary to popular belief, there are other toxic molds that can cause health problems, as well. Cumulatively, the symptoms of exposure to these other toxic molds are:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Red eyes
  • Joint pain
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Shortness of breath

There you have it. The symptoms of mold exposure, short and sweet. However, it’s important to note that mold can produce far more symptoms — these are just the most common.
